mourner Serious class A melodic blackened death. It has more than enough punch and creativity that the melodic side keeps you engaged and the level of immersion up there with the best. After the previous EP from 2014 and this full length from 2018 I think it's about time for the next release. I'll be there. Favorite track: Depths of Isolation.

1.
A semblance of life fades from this existence Underneath a canopy of dying stars. Constellations weave patterns in the sky A testament to failure has become enshrined. In the night, I feel the presence of the divine But redemption shall always remain elusive. Each step I take brings me closer to the grave Yet I have no fear, for I feel nothing Dressed in the skin of my enemies I cannot escape their touch All that remains is emptiness within me All that I had was never enough In the night, I feel the presence of the divine But redemption shall always remain elusive. A semblance of life fades from this existence Underneath a canopy of dying stars. Constellations weave patterns in the sky A testament to failure has become enshrined.

Has led to only infinite questions. For there are no answers and there is no reason We are creatures of habit and pattern No better than the vermin below us With no conscience and no ambition. An abyss of nothingness Is where our deepest hopes dwell. Surrounded by a void Where nonexistence is all. Beyond the doors that hold the great illusion I have found more distortions of reality. For there are no answers and there is no reason We are creatures of habit and pattern No better than the vermin below us With no conscience and no ambition. An abyss of nothingness Is where our deepest hopes dwell. Surrounded by a void Where nonexistence is all. Where nonexistence is all-consuming
3.
There are nameless depths yet to be known Buried deep within the confines of my soul. Descending to the depths of isolation Here is where the emptiness consumes me A shadow cast upon my existence. Each night I revisit these memories Seeking resolution and always finding nothing. Possessed by a fever of abhorrence Feeding off the grief of the fallen Doomed to wander these corridors of thought As I suffocate under the weight of my discretion I shall remain in the depths of isolation
4.
In the nightfall, I travel to places long forgotten Home to thoughts both real and imagined The realm of the impossible, a void Where there is no solace and no escape. This night is endless Obsidian skies reflect no light Twisting through time and space A contortion of the natural shape Shadows dance across the faces Of strangers who I’ve never met Yet they all seem too familiar Edging closer with every step Arrays of light reflect through infinity Before dissolving once again Twisting through time and space A contortion of the natural shape
5.
A distant shadow, a fading memory That exists to bring only torment. A hideous dream, a life-long funeral Cursed among these apparitions. Forever bound to these visions They repeat incessantly. I would carve my eyes from their sockets If it meant never seeing these mistakes again. Marching toward the goal In search of victory I sacrificed my soul I have become that which I despise Forever bound to these visions They repeat incessantly. I would carve my eyes from their sockets If it meant never seeing these mistakes again. Marching toward the goal In search of victory I sacrificed my soul I will not submit. I refuse to die for your misguided virtues Smoke and ash will fill the sky as the eternal conflict wages. The sounds of suffering form an infernal cadence I have lived through this before and nothing ever changes.
6.
There is no grace to be witnessed No ascension to be blessed Only the barren words of man Echoing throughout these infinite cells Promising to cure you of your ailments And giving nothing in the end Only addictions and cancer An endless fountain of cash Hear me as I call upon your name Great bringer of destruction and pain. I’ve watched the light drain from your eyes You’re just a shadow of the past. Crawling through the dirt and waste Endlessly seeking some form of escape. But we are all condemned to repeat The failures we create each day. A personal hell of banal existence And reliving our greatest sorrows Hear me as I call upon your name Great bringer of destruction and pain. This body is a curse, a casket wrapped in flesh Content and satisfied with vacant ambience Transmitting the plague of apathy Ushering in a new wave of detachment
7.
Behold the creation Of that which is hidden  From inquisitive eyes And hearts longing for adoration Staring through the glass That separates these dimensions. A garden full of thorns That betrays its exterior Bliss lies in unknowing And is shattered by insight. Understanding can be found Upon destroying all that is beloved Sanctified in waters of the pristine Enriching the surroundings. A haven of tranquility An abstraction of thought. Abandoned by the sands of time Buried beneath new terrain. Inaccessible to all Preserving secrets endlessly. Bliss lies in unknowing And is shattered by insight. Understanding can be found Upon destroying all that is beloved
8.
Chanting words of allegiance Praising the work of destruction. Conditioned to only focus On the positive aspects. These days will come to an end Vanishing in the blink of an eye. No voices will cry out in pain Upon attainment, none shall remain Gathering to observe The absolute end of an era. Reflecting on the decisions That have guided every step. These days will come to an end Vanishing in the blink of an eye. No voices will cry out in pain Upon attainment, none shall remain

As One 05:24
Staring into the eyes Of the one who forms the balance To the dysphoria within me Never ceases to feel so surreal. I can only hope that these moments Will never fade away Like the last rays of the sun That abandon us each day Shrouded in an eclipse I could not view the world. Blind to the concept of devotion I can now embrace your gift These trials of life only strengthen The bonds that we have forged. Walking together as one; Stronger than our individual sums. A change has occurred Within the fabric of my essence It has made all the difference Changing the structure within me There is no way to know What the future will hold But I will be satisfied If I were to die by your side.

about

Written over a period of three years, “Infernal Cadence of the Desolate” builds upon the concepts Arthedain introduced with their previous release “Arias Exalted” and explores the journey of one’s slow descent into the fringes of madness and eventual return to lucidity.

Musically, there are soaring melodic passages which bridge the gap between the mid-paced, atmospheric sections and the chaotic, intense barrages of aggression that drag the listener along at a frantic pace. The music spans a variety of influences including traditional black metal, melodic death metal, and post black metal while adding some influences that, while remaining organic, will likely surprise listeners upon first reception.

The lyrical themes include reflections on the depravity of war and its aftermath on one’s psyche as experienced by vocalist Charles Wolford, and the struggle to come to terms with the cause and effect relationship of individual actions while pursuing the end goal of optimism and composure. In addition to these topics, there are also allusions to Goffman’s idea of dramaturgical analysis and a critique of the value of existence as based on writings by Schopenhauer.

The album has seen the band expand as a whole, including the addition of new guitarist Nicholas Colvin and session drummer Ilya Tabachnik who provide intriguing musical contributions to Arthedain. Listeners can expect a challenging experience which takes them through bleak, harsh territory before reaching a gratified conclusion. The album should be heard in full in order to experience the entire concept.
